Demeter is the brand for products from biodynamic agriculture. The holistic Demeter requirements go above and beyond EU organic regulations (EC 834/2007 and EC 889/2008). They not only exclude the use of synthetic fertilisers and chemical plant protection agents in agricultural crop production, and artificial additives during processing, but also require licensees to proactively take specific measures to strengthen the life processes in soil and in food. Demeter farmers and processors actively contribute toward the shaping of a future worth living for, creating healthy foods with distinctive taste, truly “Foods with Character”.
Each step of production and processing is taken into account in the Demeter certification process so that from start to finish quality is ensured. Why Demeter? Demeter is the oldest and one of the most respected organic food certifications. Since 1928, Demeter, with its biodynamic principles that were laid down in Rudolf Steiner’s agricultural lectures in 1924, have been practiced and applied in all corners of the globe. Today, there are more than 5000 Demeter certified businesses around the world who are producing, processing and trading the highly
demanded Demeter products.
