The Demeter brand was named after the Greek goddess of earth, agriculture and fertility in general. Her task in the Greek pantheon was to make the crops grow each year and the first loaf of bread made from the annual harvest was offered to her. She was also responsible for the seasons as her grief for her daughter Persephone was reflected in autumn and winter and her joy at Persephone’s return was reflected in spring and summer.
